The New York State Gaming Commission has announced the results of mobile sports betting for the period from April 2024 to March 2025.
Mobile sports betting revenue increased by 20% year-over-year, reaching $23.9 billion, with a total gaming revenue (GGR) of $2.14 billion.
The best-performing month for sports betting was January, which may be attributed to increased activity prior to the Super Bowl LIX event.
In January, the betting amount and total gaming revenue were $2.48 billion and $247 million respectively, followed by March with $2.44 billion in betting amount and $161.8 million in total gaming revenue.
Other months with strong performance include December ($2.28 billion), November ($2.27 billion), and October ($2.32 billion).
However, from the perspective of total gaming revenue (GGR), the best-performing months after January were November ($231.6 million), September ($204.7 million), and May ($203.3 million).
It is noteworthy that since the legalization of mobile sports betting in 2022, the monthly betting amount exceeded the $1 billion mark for the first time during the period from April 2024 to March 2025.
The New York Gaming Commission noted that $23.3 million also came from previous adjustments, fines, and penalties—part of which could be attributed to a $17.5 million fine solely issued to Underdog.
Of this, $1.11 billion will be used to support the state's education; this includes $6 million for gambling education and treatment, and $5 million for youth sports activities and annual awards for sports programs serving underserved youth.
