Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports and Secretary-General of the Palang Pracharath Party, Suriya Tienthong, confirmed to the media that the government has officially adopted the draft of the "Entertainment Complex Act" and is currently waiting for the opening of the parliament to enter the next stage of deliberation.
In response to whether a public forum or a central platform will be held to discuss the bill, Suriya noted that it is still necessary to wait for the Deputy Minister of Finance, Julapun Amornvivat, to return from overseas duties to further determine who will lead the initiative. He stated that if media or social organizations wish to actively hold seminars, the government is ready to explain and respond to questions from all parties at any time.
When asked whether the Palang Pracharath Party would initiate activities to deepen public understanding of "legal casinos" or "entertainment complexes," Suriya clearly stated: "We will not directly host such activities within the party. We prefer neutral institutions to take on this role."
Regarding whether it is possible to complete related public opinion surveys and policy preparations before the parliament reconvenes in July, Suriya said, "We are accelerating the process and still have some flexibility in terms of time."
He added that the "Entertainment Complex Act" represents a new type of legislative attempt, and if obstacles are encountered in the preliminary stages, postponing the deliberation is a possibility.
