The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia recently issued a notice clarifying the stay provisions of the mutual visa exemption agreement between China and Malaysia. According to the agreement, citizens holding ordinary passports from both sides can enjoy visa-free treatment, with each entry allowing a maximum stay of 30 days, but the cumulative visa-free stay within any 180 days must not exceed 90 days.
This agreement was signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia last month, aimed at promoting the deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, and jointly building a China-Malaysia community of shared future. The agreement is valid for five years and will be automatically extended upon expiration.
The embassy pointed out that if travelers have already accumulated 90 days of visa-free stay within 180 days, they will not be able to continue to enter the country under the visa-free policy. If the remaining days are less than 30, the stay for this entry will also be limited to the remaining days.
China stated that this measure will help promote exchanges and understanding between the peoples of the two countries, especially in cooperation in fields such as culture and education. The Chinese Embassy in Malaysia will also continue to actively support the people-to-people exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries.
The implementation of this agreement is seen as an important sign of further upgrading the quality of China-Malaysia relations, with both sides moving towards the goal of building a "Golden 50 Years" together.
