After the ban on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) announced in one of its first national industry reports that the market revenue for the first quarter of 2025 was PHP 104.12 billion (USD 18 billion).

This figure represents a 27.4% growth compared to the first quarter of the previous year, primarily due to the increasing popularity of electronic gaming, which drove the total gaming revenue (GGR) to PHP 51.4 billion. This number accounts for the largest percentage of total revenue at 49.4%, marking the first time electronic gaming has dominated the quarterly revenue of the Philippine gaming market.

Previously, the Philippine gaming industry was mainly dominated by licensed physical casinos, which indeed lagged behind electronic gaming in total gaming revenue (GGR) this quarter, totaling PHP 49.3 billion, representing 47.3% of the total Philippine gaming revenue. Finally, the casinos operated by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) generated PHP 3.45 billion in revenue, accounting for the remaining 3.3% of the total gaming revenue.

In addition, PAGCOR also announced the financial performance of the Philippine gaming industry for the fiscal year 2025 in March, showing a 25% year-over-year growth despite the recent POGO ban. Previously, the Philippine government had conducted a nearly year-long crackdown on illegal offshore gaming operators, and the introduction of this ban had raised concerns among some that the market recovery would take time. However, the latest first-quarter performance highlights that, despite the impact of the ban, the market continues to grow.

Last month, Bloomberry Resorts announced plans to launch a new electronic gaming platform, hoping to compensate for the losses caused by the POGO ban.

In fact, this latest update coincides with PAGCOR's release of the first quarter revenue data for 2025 a week later, showing an 11.2% year-over-year increase to PHP 28.07 billion.

As part of this release, the organization also committed to continuing its dedication to corporate social responsibility initiatives.
