The government whip of the Pheu Thai Party, Visut Chainarong, recently provided an update on the progress of the "Entertainment Complex Business Act" draft. He stated that the results of the draft interpretation will be reported at the party meeting on May 13, but the details will be announced at the official meeting. Visut emphasized that the current government's focus remains on the review of the fiscal year 2026 budget.
In response to some people's suggestions for a national referendum, Visut clearly opposed it: "Members of Parliament are elected representatives and have legislative power. If every controversial bill is subjected to a referendum, it will severely affect the efficiency of government operations." He revealed that Pheu Thai Party members have been explaining the bill's content to the public at the grassroots level to ensure transparency.
Discussing the budget, Visut pointed out that the government will review the budget allocation with the opposition, actively cutting inefficient projects. "The ratio of government to opposition representatives in the Budget Committee is equal, and we must ensure that every penny is spent effectively."
Regarding the medical incident involving former Prime Minister Thaksin, Visut clarified that the government did not intervene, emphasizing that Thaksin currently holds no government position and has not interfered with government operations. He mentioned that although the government may refer to Thaksin's experience and advice on some policies, this does not constitute political interference.
