The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) reported that the total gambling expenditure in March 2025 increased by 1.4% year-on-year, with online casino activities once again being the strongest performing sector in the industry.

According to the latest monthly data from the regulatory body, online casino revenues in March 2024 grew by 6.4% compared to March 2024, continuing the upward trend of the previous months.

In contrast, betting, gaming machines, and physical casino activities saw a slight decline, consistent with the broad shift towards digital gambling channels.

The March report also marked the first time that physical bingo games appeared as an independent gambling category in the monthly statistics. Following regulatory reforms implemented on January 1, 2025, operators now licensed under the liberalized framework in Denmark are allowed to offer bingo games on commercial terms.

The revenue from charitable bingo games remains categorized separately under the lottery vertical.

Spillemyndigheden also recently released its annual report "2024 Gambling Market Data," outlining the activities of the regulated gambling industry in Denmark.

The report confirmed that the total gambling expenditure in 2024 reached 11 billion Danish Kroner (USD 1.6 billion), an increase of 5.6% from 2023.

The market share of online gambling continues to grow, with the channelization rate (i.e., the proportion of gambling conducted through licensed operators) reaching 91.5% in 2024, up from 90.8% the previous year. Denmark currently ranks fifth globally in terms of market share in the regulated online gambling market.

The report also examined gambling activities during major sporting events such as the 2024 European Championship, highlighting a significant increase in betting volumes during the Danish team's participation. The report also covered responsible gambling initiatives, including the ROFUS self-exclusion register and the StopSpillet support hotline.

Earlier this year, Denmark introduced new licensing requirements for gaming providers, with enforcement mandatory by July 2025. In 2024, the total revenue of the Danish gambling industry reached 7.27 billion Danish Kroner, with online casinos contributing nearly half. Gaming machines were the only major sector to see a decline in performance throughout the year.
