Recently, the Thai Cyber Police held a press conference in Chiang Mai, announcing the successful dismantling of three major illegal online gambling websites located in Chiang Rai and Phayao provinces, and the arrest of three website administrators.
The platforms had more than 220,000 registered users, with a monthly turnover of 274 million Thai Baht (approximately 54 million RMB).
This operation was led by Major General Trirong Phiwpaen, the director of the Thailand's Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), together with the deputy director and several senior officials, who jointly announced the investigation results.
All three platforms were simultaneously shut down
The three main websites are:
cs68.club: over 100,000 users, monthly turnover about 240 million Thai Baht;
dragon88.casino: 25,000 users, monthly turnover about 12 million Thai Baht;
webdee999.online: over 100,000 users, monthly turnover about 21 million Thai Baht.
These platforms offered a variety of online gambling games such as slot machines, fishing games, baccarat, and sic bo, conducting financial transactions through Thai bank accounts and "mule accounts" to try to evade financial regulation.
Joint operation in three locations, seizing a large amount of equipment
The police launched simultaneous raids at multiple locations:
Wieng Chai District, Chiang Rai: Arrested 27-year-old cs68.club administrator Prakaisiri Pankam, seizing laptops and routers;
Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai: Arrested 31-year-old Phonphat Chanmanee and 27-year-old Pinij Chanmanee, both backend operators for dragon88.casino;
Mae Sai District, Phayao: Seized equipment related to webdee999.online, suspects fled but left behind computers and surveillance equipment.
Suspects confessed to being trained before taking up their posts, with a monthly salary of just over 10,000 Thai Baht
The arrested individuals stated that they had received training for operating gambling platforms and had been long-term backend administrators. Prakaisiri had previously gone to Myanmar for training, with a monthly salary of about 12,000 Thai Baht, while the other two also had salaries around 10,000 Thai Baht.
Currently, the three are charged with organizing and assisting illegal gambling activities. The police are further investigating the flow of funds and the masterminds behind the scenes, planning to expand the search and track down all involved networks and their operators.
