As the only casino operator in South Korea open to its citizens, Kangwon Land has recently launched the "2025 Comprehensive Coexistence Development Plan," aimed at collaborating with domestic small and medium-sized enterprises to co-develop local casino equipment, including slot machines, and related technologies, accelerating the localization and internationalization of South Korea's gambling technology industry.

This project not only focuses on promoting the development of the local casino equipment manufacturing industry but also aims to lower the research and development threshold for small and medium-sized enterprises. Kangwon Land will provide participating companies with technical support, expert consulting services, sales network assurance, and market expansion channels, helping those enterprises that want to enter the gambling supply chain but face resource and experience constraints to stand out.

Kangwon Land stated that the plan will enhance the competitiveness of domestic equipment while strengthening synergies with local businesses, building a win-win industrial ecosystem, and is expected to drive economic revival in surrounding areas that have declined due to mine abandonment.

The head of the Coexistence Development Department, Park Young-shin, pointed out that this cooperation plan is a key step towards industrial upgrading for Kangwon Land, not only replacing some imported equipment with domestic ones but also accumulating domestic technological experience to open global market doors for enterprises. He stated that Kangwon Land is committed to becoming a successful example of public-private cooperation and international expansion.

Kangwon Land is located about 150 kilometers from Seoul in Gangwon Province, originally a mining area abandoned in 1989 due to energy structure adjustments. In 1995, South Korea initiated a mining area regeneration plan through relevant legislation, leading to the establishment of Kangwon Land Inc., which is currently 51% owned by the South Korean government and regulated by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
