According to recent reports from Thai media, the director of the first division of Thailand's National Immigration Bureau, Prasat, led a team to raid a luxury apartment in the Thong Lor area of Bangkok after receiving intelligence, successfully arresting two Chinese men. They were arrested for illegal stay and illegal entry respectively, one of whom is also a fugitive involved in a multi-million investment fraud case wanted by Chinese police.

On the day of the operation, law enforcement officers spotted two suspected Chinese men entering the target apartment and immediately approached them to show their passports. Xiao, a 30-year-old who had entered legally, had a visa that had expired nearly two months ago, suspected of illegal stay. Another 29-year-old man, Liu, refused to show any documents, and police could not find any entry records for him in the fingerprint database, preliminarily identified as an illegal entrant.

Further investigation revealed suspicious behavior from Liu, raising police suspicions. After cooperating with international law enforcement units to verify his identity, it was confirmed that he was indeed the investment fraud fugitive wanted by Chinese police, involved in a case amounting to 2.5 million RMB (approximately 12 million Thai Baht). According to reports, Liu had falsely claimed to have a cooperative project with a well-known Chinese liquor company, deceiving multiple investors before fleeing with the funds. After the incident, he first fled to the Golden Triangle area of Laos and recently sneaked into Thailand, renting a luxury residence in Bangkok.

The Thai police confirmed his identity through a biometric system and have now reported the information to higher authorities, preparing to initiate judicial proceedings, and may subsequently extradite him to China for trial according to the law.
