On June 22, the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) in Thailand released a national survey on the feasibility of "Integrated Entertainment Centers (including casinos)", showing that more than half of the population does not support the promotion of entertainment complexes with casinos in Thailand.
The survey was conducted from June 16 to 18, covering 1,310 people aged 18 and above nationwide. The data shows that 56.72% of respondents clearly oppose any development plans that include casinos or entertainment centers, only 24.12% support both; another 8.78% support entertainment projects without casinos, and only 1.37% support casinos alone.
Even assuming the project is privately funded and brings in annual revenue of 120 to 39 billion Thai Baht, 84.15% of the opponents still firmly disagree with gambling investments, only 11.31% accept entertainment centers without casinos. Even with anti-money laundering measures and access restrictions, 81.47% of respondents still expressed opposition, with only 6.18% willing to accept comprehensive casino plans.
However, if the government decides to promote a national referendum, 61.6% of respondents support this decision-making method, showing that the public expects to have a voice in major policy decisions.
Overall, despite frequent discussions by the government to legalize casinos, Thai society generally remains highly cautious and conservative about the issue of casinos.
