The deputy commander of the Border Guard Force (BGF) of Myanmar, Major Saw Chit Thu, recently announced the detention of 14 Chinese nationals suspected of serious crimes, with plans to legally extradite them to the Chinese government for processing. This action has drawn widespread attention along the Thai-Myanmar border, with the detained individuals identified as key operators of several telecommunications fraud hubs.

According to BGF reports, these 14 individuals are involved in multiple malicious cases in the Myawaddy area of Myanmar, including murder, sexual assault, and illegal detention. They are also suspected of collaborating with local armed groups to profit from controlling fraud parks, using methods such as organized illegal detention and violent threats to collect millions of dollars in protection fees daily, establishing a criminal network across the border.

The BGF stated that this operation is driven by multiple intelligence sources, aimed at responding to the increasingly severe trend of telecommunications fraud, and clearing the underlying black and gray networks. These suspects will be handed over to the Chinese government for legal processing after completing necessary procedures in Myanmar.

This operation sends a strong signal, showing that the enforcement against telecom fraud gangs in the Myanmar border area is intensifying. Industry analysts believe that BGF's cooperation with China may indicate that the underground fraud chains in the region are facing substantial cleanup. Whether other involved forces will also be targeted remains to be observed in the ongoing developments.
