Australia Shuts Down Five Illegal Gambling Websites, ACMA Continues to Strengthen Crackdown on Unlicensed Operators

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has recently taken action again, asking local internet service providers to block five unauthorized online gambling platforms, including Best Aussie Pokies, winspirit.online, win-spirit.online, winspirit.team, and winspirit1.com. Investigations indicate that these websites have violated the provisions of the Interactive Gambling Act of 2001.

This is the latest move by ACMA since it began blocking websites at the end of 2019, bringing the total number of blocked gambling and related websites to 1,279. Since strengthening the regulation of online gambling in 2017, about 220 unlicensed operators have withdrawn from the Australian market.

ACMA reiterates that unlicensed platforms often lack basic protections for players, exposing them to financial losses, information leaks, and even fraud. The regulatory body urges consumers to verify the legality of gambling platforms, recommends checking the list of licensed operators on the ACMA website, and to report suspicious websites.

ACMA states that it will continue to maintain a strong stance against illegal gambling activities, committed to creating a safer and more regulated online gambling environment for Australian users.
