The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs reported that 603,999 households currently receiving government aid have been flagged for suspected involvement in online gambling and will undergo further assessment in the third quarter.

This data comes from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), which, after screening over 32 million family assistance records, initially found 656,543 households with suspicious transactions. After deduplication, approximately 600,000 households were confirmed.

These families mainly come from the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Basic Food Assistance (Sembako) lists, and have now been marked as priority subjects in the National Socio-Economic Data System (DTSEN).

By the second quarter, about 38% of the affected families no longer received government aid, and the remaining 370,000+ households will undergo detailed investigations in the coming quarters.

Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf stated that these findings will help the government optimize the aid distribution process and prevent the misuse of national resources.

Currently, there are no legal accountability measures in place, but the government emphasizes enhancing the transparency and accountability mechanisms of social assistance to ensure that benefits truly reach those in need.
