The São Paulo Football Federation (FPF) has recently strengthened its security policies against match manipulation and illegal betting. The "Prevention and Combat of Match Manipulation Strategic Plan" includes a series of continuous education activities and training sessions for clubs, athletes, referees, and administrators.
With the Brazilian sports betting and online gaming regulations set to take effect on January 1, 2025, the FPF must update its security protocols. Through the Integrity Committee, the federation collaborates with Brazilian sports bodies to adjust internal practices to ensure the transparency and legality of matches.
New measures include enhanced monitoring of betting patterns, specialized training for players, coaches, referees, and club officials, and collaboration with professional security technology platforms to quickly detect suspicious activities. Additionally, an anonymous reporting channel has been established, allowing individuals to safely report match-fixing, illegal betting, or signs of corruption without fear of identity disclosure.
The FPF states that sports betting companies are considered its sponsorship partners, with revenues from fixed-odds betting on national, regional, or state-level competitions proportionally distributed to affiliated clubs for organizing events, enhancing referee skills, and funding integrity, education, and sports development projects.
Given the rapid growth of the Brazilian online betting market, the FPF emphasizes that integrating integrity policies is crucial for maintaining the credibility of the regulated betting ecosystem. Implementing monitoring and prevention programs together with sports federations not only reduces risks but also creates added value for B2B companies in the betting industry.
