According to the Shenzhen People's Procuratorate, since August 2009, the core members of the Bai family have used their family influence and armed forces in the Kokang region of Myanmar to establish 41 zones including Baisheng Hotel, Tenglong Building No.1, and Cangsheng Technology Park. These places are alleged to provide venues and shelter for various illegal and criminal activities.
Scale of Crime and Amount Involved
The prosecution alleges that the criminal group attracted multiple "financial backers" to reside, provided armed protection, and jointly committed crimes such as telecommunications network fraud, kidnapping, and intentional homicide. According to the charges, these criminal activities resulted in the deaths of six Chinese citizens, multiple injuries, and involved gambling and fraud funds amounting to over 20 billion yuan.
Drug-related Charges and Drug Quantities
The case also involves major drug-related criminal charges. According to the prosecution, Bai Yingcang is suspected of collaborating in trafficking and manufacturing about 11 tons of methamphetamine, indicating that the case may involve large-scale drug manufacturing and trafficking activities.
Legal Procedures and Further Developments
The prosecution has requested to pursue criminal responsibility for the Bai family and its associated criminal gang members on 12 charges including fraud, intentional homicide, and intentional injury. The case is currently undergoing further trial, and the court will make a judgment in accordance with the law.
