South Korea's GKL casino gaming revenue down 7.4% in first half of 2024

On July 3, South Korea’s foreign-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) reported that in 2024 In the first half of the year, casino gaming revenue fell 7.4%, totaling 192.57 billion won (approximately $138.6 million). Revenues from both table games and slot machines were down compared to the same period last year.

The company's latest data from the Korea Stock Exchange showed that tabletop game revenue fell 7.6% year-on-year in the first half of 2024, to 175.29 billion won (approximately US$126.2 million), while slot machine revenue fell 5.4% to 17.3 billion won (approximately US$1.24 million).

For the single month of June, the company's game revenue increased by 25.3% compared with the same period last year, reaching 37.02 billion won ( approximately US$26.6 million). Table games grew 29% compared to June 2023, while slot machine game revenue fell 7.8% year over year.
