Payment provider Paysafe announced that its digital wallet brand Skrill has become the official sponsor of Chelsea Football Club’s preseason tour.
Originally established in 2001, and part of the Paysafe Group, the payment platform aims to enhance its brand visibility on the North American continent.
As part of the agreement, Skrill and Paysafe's online cash solutions will also be available as payment methods in Chelsea Football Club’s online store for the remainder of this year.
In August 2021, Chelsea Football Club also reached a three-season partnership agreement with Parimatch, which was concluded at the end of the recent football season.
Speaking about this latest deal, Chelsea’s Chief Revenue Officer, Casper Stylsvig, stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Skrill as an official partner for the Chelsea Football Club US preseason tour. We value their spirit of providing flexible, adaptive financial services to customers, and they will offer fans excellent opportunities to engage with Chelsea through multiple touchpoints.”
For Paysafe, this latest deal follows closely on the heels of its launch of a "banking payment" product for the US iGaming, as the company aims to enhance its position in the US market.
Paysafe's Chief Revenue Officer Rob Gatto commented on this new arrangement saying: “Our Skrill digital wallet truly transforms the match-day experience for Chelsea fans, allowing them to quickly and securely pay for merchandise in various ways, with all transactions just a tap away on their smartphones, ensuring they don’t miss any of the action on the field.”
