South Asia, home to over 25% of the global population, is set to host its first major gaming summit, a matter of time: SiGMA will launch a new event in Sri Lanka for the South Asian market. The summit will take place in Colombo from November 30 to December 2, 2025.
A billion-dollar market brings huge growth potential
With one-fourth of the world's population, Sri Lanka will redefine gaming for the region. Tourism in Sri Lanka has already contributed $4.4 billion to its GDP. By the fiscal year 2023, India's gaming market size has soared to an impressive $3.1 billion, making it one of the fastest-growing sectors in the Indian media and entertainment industry.
South Asian digital gaming is booming
Industry reports predict that the Indian gaming market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 20%, potentially exceeding $7.5 billion by the fiscal year 2028. Coupled with the growth expectations in the mobile gaming sector, India is expected to lead the mobile gaming market with 239.63 million users by 2027, showing a bright future and rapid expansion and market dominance in the region. The current internet penetration rate in India is about 50%, and online gaming is continuously rising across the region, offering endless opportunities.
The demand for the gaming industry in Pakistan is also continuously growing, with an expected compound annual growth rate of 6.4% from 2020 to 2026, reaching $510 million by 2026. Increased internet penetration, a 64% young population, rising incomes, and the rapid adoption of mobile payment systems all indicate that this emerging market will experience new growth. As of 2023, Pakistan has 257 gaming development companies and 300 gaming studios—a report by PwC shows that the country's video and mobile gaming market could grow by 21.9%.
This exhibition will attract participation from over 800 affiliates and will feature the top 10 ranked companies in the region, offering an unparalleled experience for networking and business.
