Scientific Games Fast Play Games Lead U.S. Retail Industry

The company's fast games are among the best-performing in the industry, with the Kansas Lottery being the latest to launch.

According to Scientific Games, this global lottery company leads in retail performance in the top three instant lottery markets in the U.S., based on per capita retail sales.

Leading the nation: Vermont Lottery ranks first in the U.S. for per capita weekly sales in instant retail. After switching to Scientific Games as its new lottery system provider in 2022, the lottery's instant product category saw significant growth. In the first 52 weeks after the transition, sales increased by 93%, and in fiscal year 2024, sales grew by another 33% compared to fiscal year 2023.

Increasingly popular: Fast Play games are now offered by lotteries in 27 states. In fiscal year 2024, Fast Play games generated over $1.5 billion in sales. Scientific Games' Fast Play lottery clients—Arizona, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Vermont—all saw year-over-year growth. In the next 24 months, two more U.S. lotteries are expected to launch Scientific Games Fast Play games. One current Fast Play lottery plans to launch a $50 product.

Kansas joins the trend: The Kansas Lottery is the latest to launch Scientific Games' Fast Play products. The high-performance Fast Play games debuted this summer, giving Kansas players the chance to win instantly from terminal-generated games. Since 2018, Scientific Games has been providing system technology to the Kansas Lottery. The company's advanced data analytics guided the planning and launch strategy for the Kansas Lottery's Fast Play product portfolio.

Stephen Durrell, Executive Director of the Kansas Lottery, stated: "Our vision is to continue working with Scientific Games, utilizing new technologies and games like Fast Play to modernize the Kansas Lottery, so we can keep bringing exciting and relevant products to our players and retailers, while continually enhancing our contribution to Kansas."

Scientific Games combines consumer research insights with advanced data analytics to guide the planning and launch strategy for the Kansas Lottery's fast game portfolio. Ten fast games were launched on the Kansas Lottery's retailer network of self-service and clerk-operated terminals, priced at $1, $2, $5, $10, and $20. At launch, the most popular game was the $1 game. To date, the $20 game has the highest sales.

Leslie Badger, Vice President of Lottery Content at Scientific Games with 25 years of industry experience, said: "We worked with the Kansas Lottery team to implement a strategic, targeted approach to launch its new Fast Play games, adopting a managed portfolio strategy similar to our approach for scratch games. This required advanced data analytics to be done right, and we are very pleased with the results in Kansas."
