The FES Project is a national campaign for the prevention of behavioral addictions in adolescents, driven by the Platform for Sustainable Gaming.
Spain.- The Platform for Sustainable Gaming and the Government of the Canary Islands launched this Thursday, September 26, the FES Project, a campaign for the prevention of behavioral addictions in adolescents.
The presentation event featured the participation of the Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, Poli Suárez; the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Nieves Lady Barreto, and the Deputy Minister of Administrations and Transparency, Antonio Llorens.
Upon launching the initiative, Nieves Lady Barreto said: "Freedom is at the heart of what we are doing here today. Providing tools so that when you have a mobile phone in your hands, you can decide freely and nothing toxic invades you. The FES Project helps to not lose this freedom, take advantage of it."
For his part, Poli Suárez recalled that measures were already taken during the last academic year to limit the use of mobile phones in educational centers and stated: "Today's event and the FES Project will serve to understand some of the measures taken by the administrations. So that young people do not feel prisoners of the phone and to prevent and detect mental health problems in time. It is an important tool for students, families, and educational and social staff."
Pedro García Aguado, ambassador of the FES Project, led a talk for young people between 13 and 14 years old in the theater of CIFP Felo Monzón Grau Bassas in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria throughout the morning. The Olympic medalist in water polo highlighted the importance of maintaining healthy life habits and the reality of the digital world, with the existence of possible harmful content and potential risks.

With the arrival in the Canary Islands of the FES Project, educational materials will be provided to educational centers throughout the Canary Islands. With the goal of increasing the level of dissemination and knowledge of the campaign, the Government of the Canary Islands will organize at least one session with young people on each of the Canary Islands with Pedro García Aguado.
The FES Project, driven by the Canarian associations AJAC, APEBI, APEMARTE, and ASPROMARE, collaborating with the Platform for Sustainable Gaming, is a campaign for the prevention of behavioral addictions in adolescents that aims to train, educate, and raise awareness among adolescents, their families, and the educational community, on the importance of primary intervention through prevention, in such a way that it helps to prevent the development of behavioral addictions among young people, while promoting healthy life habits.
