A recent ruling by the Federal District Court has nullified the provisions of Ordinance 1.475 in the State of Rio, a decision that will be appealed by the national government.
Brazil.- The AGU (Attorney General of the Union, in Portuguese) confirmed that it will take steps to overturn the court's decision, which allows the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj) to accredit and authorize betting houses to operate throughout Brazil.
A precautionary measure by the Federal District Court granted a request from the Rio Lottery, which launches an offensive against the regulation of betting by the Ministry of Finance.
The judicial decision annulled the effects of the Ordinance 1.475 of the federal government that planned to close betting sites that did not comply with federal regulations, creating a legal loophole for these companies to continue operating if they were accredited by Loterj.
Therefore, the AGU stated that it will appeal to revoke the protection and is studying the best measure to take.

This Tuesday, October 1, when the deadline set by Ordinance 1.475 began, the Federal District Court decided, on a temporary basis, that online sports betting houses accredited in Rio de Janeiro can continue operating throughout the country. The decision suspended the effects of this ordinance promulgated on September 17 for companies participating in the accreditation process in Rio.
