In the dispute between the State of Rio de Janeiro and the Union regarding the regulation of bets, the government of Rio has already collected R$ 59 million for its treasury since last year, from charging fees to betting houses. The revenue includes R$ 5 million as a grant and 5% on revenue.

The charge of a variable grant of 5% on gross betting revenue jumped more than 2,800% in comparison to this year with 2023.

The data is from Loterj, the state agency that controls lotteries and gambling, responsible for accrediting bets in Rio. Betting houses have been authorized in Rio since June last year, following the publication of a notice in April.

According to state rules, accredited bets must cover federal taxes and fees to the Union monthly, pay a fixed grant of R$ 5 million upon accreditation, and then a fee of 5% on gross betting revenue.

Rio has 11 accredited companies

The most recent balance from Loterj points to 11 accredited companies. Of these, eight have already paid the fixed grant, the agency reported. With this item, the state treasury's collection was R$ 41.2 million since last year.

With the 5% fee, the collection in 2024 is at R$ 11.3 million, according to the most recent data from Loterj. Last year, the collection with the fee was R$ 385,000.

According to the balance from Loterj, these are the bets authorized to operate in Rio:

- VaideBet

- Betvip

- Pixpet

- Pixhora

- BestBet

- LotoLegal

- MarjoSports

- Apostou.com

- Rio Jogos

- Caesar Sports

- Ganhabet

Some of these brands are not on the list of betting houses authorized to operate by the Ministry of Finance, published at the beginning of the week.
