The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) is conducting a campaign from this Wednesday (09) until Saturday (12) titled "Betting is not child's play". The aim is to combat the use of platforms by minors. Although registration of this age group is already prohibited in betting sites, the goal is to raise awareness among parents and other guardians not to allow minors access using adult CPFs (Brazilian Tax ID).

Law 14.790/2023 and Ordinance No. 1.231 from the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), under the Ministry of Finance, already prohibit betting sites from allowing the registration of minors under 18 years old. However, only from January 1st will it be mandatory to use facial recognition to access these sites. Moreover, thousands of sites that have not requested the federal license and do not intend to do so are still operating in the country, leaving children exposed.

In this context, ANJL's campaign aims to educate adults and reaffirm to the country the industry's commitment to not allowing children's access. “Until Saturday, Children's Day, ANJL's social networks will communicate to everyone – market, government, parents, and other guardians – that betting houses are totally against the entry of children and adolescents on their platforms”, states Plínio Lemos Jorge, president of ANJL.

As an example, one of the pieces that will be published both on Instagram and LinkedIn of the entity says that “Betting is a form of entertainment for adults. It requires financial education and control”.

Leonardo Benites, Director of Communication at ANJL and who has been working for years in the advertising of the betting industry, considers it important that the players in the sector also transmit the same message.

The serious betting houses, which are undergoing regulation, have no interest in the child audience. But we need to be all attentive to those that do not comply and will continue to not comply with what the legislation says about this topic and protect children and adolescents”, said Benites.

Launched in March 2023, the National Association of Games and Lotteries defends the interests of its members, the sector, and responsible and honest gaming, always guided by the encouragement of sports, the safety of bets, and the contribution to the economic development of the country.

Among the members are galera.bet/Playtech, Big Brazil, F12, PagBet, Betnacional, Mr. Jack, Parimatch, BetFast, Aposta Ganha, Liderança Capitalização, Z.ro Bank, Propane, Paag, Clear Sale, BetBox tv, StarsPay, 1xBet and PG Soft.
