The betting house Dafabet, main sponsor of Guarani, has decided to discontinue its operations in Brazil and will cease its activities starting this Thursday (10). Not included in the government's list, the contract with the company will be analyzed by the club's legal department.
Announced as the main sponsor of Bugre in July, the bet was not included in the list from the Secretary of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Finance and will have its website taken down by the federal government starting Friday, the 11th.
In addition to battling relegation in Serie B of the Brazilian Championship, Guarani now faces another problem in this final stretch of the season.
Dafabet has posted a notice on its official website about the decision. "We regret to inform that Dafabet will end its online gaming operations in Brazil as of 10/10/2024. We kindly ask you to withdraw any remaining balance in your account as soon as possible. Ensure that all withdrawal requests are submitted by 15/10/2024", says part of the statement.
The departure of Dafabet from the country should not significantly affect Guarani's finances, which had already received the full amount for the year 2024. However, the club will now need to seek and open new negotiations to define a new sponsor.
Dafabet was announced as the main sponsor of Guarani in July this year to display the brand on the front of the uniform until the end of the Paulista Championship in 2025, with priority for renewal.
In addition to the uniform, the betting house's brand has also been displayed on advertising boards at official matches, in the locker room, and during press conferences.
Interestingly, one of the brand's "ambassadors" is the former striker Amoroso, an idol of the Bugrino club and champion of the São Paulo Youth Football Cup for the club in 1994. He played 40 games for Guarani, in two stints, and scored 28 goals.
With the regularization of betting houses, the federal government recently launched a list with companies eligible to continue in Brazil, and Dafabet was not included, raising doubts about the continuity of the agreement. Later, even with updates to the list, Dafabet did not appear and its departure was confirmed this week. Guarani has not yet commented on the case.
