The report on the activities already carried out by the Institute of Lotteries and Casinos of the province is under study, in addition to committing technical advice in the implementation of the regulations.
Argentina.- The bill introduced by Senator José Ruiz Aragón from Corrientes to prevent youth gambling addiction was discussed this week in the Senate of the province by the Committee on Legislation and Constitutional Affairs along with the intervenor of the Corrientina Lottery, Javier Bee Sellares. The initiative aims to establish a provincial program for the prevention of digital gambling addiction.
Senators Sergio Flinta, Diógenes González, Noel Breard, Lucrecia Lértora, and Celeste Ascúa were present at the meeting, who emphasized the importance of developing tools to help young people and families affected by this issue.
The bill presented by Ruiz Aragón states: "The aspects that we consider in this Law proposal are: first, to act in prevention through information and education. And second, the regulation of advertising, which is the main attraction for children and adolescents in this consumerist world, a product of postmodernity and the accentuation of capitalism, not only in its economic aspects but as a way of life."

In Article 1 of the proposal, it is requested that the Provincial Program for the Prevention of Digital Gambling Addiction be established within the province of Corrientes, with the aim of generating actions aimed at preventing addiction to compulsive gambling on digital platforms and assisting those who suffer from this pathology, with special attention to young people and adolescents. The Institute of Lotteries and Casinos of Corrientes is established as the implementing authority.
Furthermore, the project indicates that the Ministry of Education of Corrientes must develop an awareness campaign that includes, among other elements, pedagogical activities, dissemination of material, and teacher training.
Also, the legislative initiative indicates that the Executive Power must update the regulations of the online betting industry, implementing stricter measures to verify the age of users and prevent minors' access.
Furthermore, in the text, there are a series of articles that make reference to the promotion of betting houses: "Advertising must be governed by the principle of social responsibility, without undermining or trivializing the complexity of the gambling activity or its potential harmful effects on people, respecting human dignity and the rights and freedoms constitutionally recognized," states one of the articles and proposes restrictions on schedules, among other points.
