United States.- The lack of awareness and knowledge about what is allowed and what is not in terms of sports betting led the NBA to create a training program aimed at players, coaches, team personnel, and league employees, in order to raise awareness about the dangers of violating rules related to betting.
According to Baird Fogel, a lawyer specializing in the sports betting industry, the main problem lies in "For some it seems obvious, but for others, it is completely new territory," explained Fogel.
In order to prevent more cases like the controversial case of Jontay Porter, a player banned for life for betting on games of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and other gambling-related offenses linked to competition matches, the NBA is collaborating with the National Basketball Players Association to promote discussion on sports betting.
