Press release.- Educating and empowering volunteers about the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer was the main goal of the Breast Cancer Awareness Program that FBM Foundation carried out last October 17th at the One Corporate Center in Pasig City, Philippines. The initiative developed by the Corporate Social Responsibility project of the FBM Group brought together 48 women.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Program reflects the ongoing commitment of the FBM Foundation to health awareness and community well-being. Dr. Alodee Mejía, a breast cancer care expert from the Asian Hospital and Medical Center, was the guest speaker and provided essential information on early detection, self-examinations, and the latest treatments and preventive measures.
Lulu Barreras, project coordinator of the FBM Foundation in the Philippines, said: “Breast cancer affects many lives and raising awareness is crucial. It's not just about knowing it exists; it's about understanding how to act. With expert guidance, we can provide our volunteers with the right knowledge to make a difference in the fight against this health issue.”
Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide, and early detection can significantly increase survival rates. Self-examinations and regular screening tests are essential for detecting the disease in its early stages. It is important to remember that breast cancer does not only affect women. Men are also at risk, and being informed and vigilant is a big step forward in saving lives.
By hosting this program, the FBM Foundation emphasized its dedication to promoting health, fostering proactive measures, and supporting the well-being of its volunteers.
