Mississippi’s casino revenue fell in September, dropping 9.04% compared to August, totaling $190.67 million, according to data released by the Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC). This marks the third time in 2024 that revenue has dipped below $200 million, signaling a decline for the state’s gaming industry.

The September figure also represents a 9.20% year-on-year decrease from the $209.99 million generated in September 2023. Industry analysts expect further declines in October and November, with a rebound anticipated in December based on historical trends.

The bulk of the revenue in September came from Mississippi’s Coastal region, which generated $126.24 million. Northern casinos contributed $39.48 million, while Central region casinos brought in $24.95 million. All three regions reported both annual and monthly drops in revenue.

Mississippi’s casino revenue has fluctuated throughout 2024, peaking at $235.1 million in March and dropping to a low of $180.3 million in January. The state’s gaming industry has struggled to maintain consistent growth, with several months of declining performance.
