Last week, Deputy Director of the National Police Agency and Director of the Central Security Bureau, Di Weijie, led the police in collaboration with the Police Department of Pursat Province, under the guidance of the court prosecutor, to raid a park in Gombisai County, Shikoku Province, arresting over 1000 foreigners.
Recently, Deputy Director and spokesperson of the Pursat Province Police Department, Nhem Sao, clarified the operation during a media interview.
He pointed out that the police took this action because they received reports from foreign authorities that South Korean nationals were kidnapped and tortured in Shikoku Province.
After a detailed investigation, the police confirmed that these buildings were owned by Chinese enterprises and housed various workplaces, including construction and retail businesses.
However, no traces of torture were found during the inspection, nor was there any equipment indicating abusive acts, and no evidence of South Koreans or other foreigners being kidnapped or tortured was discovered.
The nearly 1000 detained foreign nationals were mostly Chinese citizens, all legally residing and working in Cambodia, with no illegal activities involved.
Nhem Sao emphasized that the living and working conditions of these foreign workers were normal and met standards, including fixed working and resting hours.
Brigadier General Nhem Sao firmly denied foreign media reports about South Korean citizens or others being kidnapped or tortured in Pursat Province, calling it misinformation. Finally, he stated that all detained foreign nationals had been released and resumed normal activities without any interference from the authorities.
