The entity provided advice and instruction to more than 50 professionals who are training to become referees in the future.
Brazil.- The State Commission of Football Referees of Paraná, from the Paraná Football Federation (FPF), gathered future professionals who will participate in football sports competitions for training in sports integrity, in an activity that included instruction by the Paraná State Lottery (Lottopar). More than 50 professionals who are training to become future referees were gathered. The goal is to update FPF professionals, starting with refereeing, on the principles governing sports integrity in the realm of betting.
Among the topics addressed, norms, regulations, and legislation that prohibit participation in betting were detailed, with emphasis on the Lottopar Ordinance No. 67/2024, which prohibits the registration and making of bets on sites authorized by Lottopar to any person who has or may have influence on the outcome of a sports event, including athletes participating in competitions organized by entities that are part of the National Sports System, people holding positions such as directors, technicians, coaches, referees, and assistant referees in sports.
“With these actions of education and qualification, the market gains credibility and the bettor is protected. Additionally, sports fans begin to trust in the integrity of the competitions and feel more committed and value the sport even more,” highlighted the general director of Lottopar, Daniel Romanowski.
It was also discussed how to prevent the manipulation of sports results to strengthen sports integrity, highlighting the values of honesty, fairness, and ethics in all spheres of sport, ensuring that competitions are fair and that the results are determined exclusively by the performance of the athletes. "In other words, sports integrity is what ensures that sport is a fair game and without interference in the betting environment," explained representatives from Lottopar.
