Argentina.- Last Friday, October 25, the conference "Online Betting: From Prevention to Action" took place in the city of Corrientes, organized by the Corrientes Lottery as part of its Responsible Gaming program, in collaboration with the Formar Association. The chosen venue for the meeting was the “Julián Zini” auditorium in the provincial capital.
The main objective of this event was to address gambling addictions and promote responsible gaming. The opening was led by the commissioner of the Corrientes Lottery, Javier Bee Sellares, who emphasized the importance of dialogue both at home and in educational institutions to generate the necessary changes to prevent online gambling addictions.
Bee Sellares thanked the presence of the attending professionals and educators, and remarked: “We from the Lottery can analyze and debate this issue, we can use all the tools of the State to stop it, we can sign countless agreements and make countless complaints about illegal online sites, but what I have no doubt about what we cannot do is the task that you indeed can: the permanent teaching that we can carry forward from schools and from the family. We will be able to solve this issue if we all get involved”.
The day featured the distinguished participation of psychiatrist Federico Pavlovsky, a specialist in addictions, who also presented his book "Online Betting: The Perfect Storm," a work that explores the risks of online betting and proposes prevention and treatment strategies. Pavlovsky was accompanied on this occasion by Dr. Gustavo Gómez, who acted as moderator.
Among the attendees were authorities from the Corrientes Lottery Institute, provincial deputies and senators, municipal officials, and representatives of educational institutions from across the province.
The conference was aimed at educators, public policy officials, and the general public, with the goal of raising awareness and promoting a broad and constructive dialogue on mental health and responsible gaming.

The bill presented by Corrientes senator José Ruiz Aragón to prevent youth gambling addiction was recently discussed in the Senate of the province by the Committee on Legislation and Constitutional Affairs along with the commissioner of the Corrientes Lottery, Javier Bee Sellares. The initiative seeks to establish a provincial program for the prevention of digital gambling addiction.
