According to forecasts, the tax would rise by 22.7 percent next year.
Spain.- The Community of Madrid presented the budgets for 2025, where an increase in the tax on gaming activities was recorded. According to forecasts for next year, the gaming tax will be EUR$27m, an increase of 22.7 percent compared to the EUR$22m budgeted in 2024.
On the other hand, the gaming tax rate will remain stable at EUR$121m, with no change from the previous year.
The budget project also includes an allocation of revenue for "administrative services for gaming regulation", estimated at EUR$1.2m. This includes administrative fees linked to the regulation and ordering of gaming activities, which are part of the non-tax revenues in the Chapter of Fees.
Meanwhile, a report indicated that, in 2023, the actual gaming (difference between the amount played and the prizes) amounted to EUR$1.296m, returning to pre-pandemic levels. The figure was announced in the V Annual Report on Gaming in the Community of Madrid presented by the Association of Gaming and Leisure Business Owners of Madrid (AEJOMA), the Madrid Association of Recreational Business Owners (AMADER), and the Association of Authorized Gaming Business Owners (ASEJU).
«Even so, the entertainment gaming is slightly below its records in 2019», indicates the study.
The study shows that in 2023, the gaming sector, both public and private, represented 0.5 percent of the GDP of the Community of Madrid, with 0.22 percent corresponding to SELAE and ONCE and 0.26 percent to entertainment gaming managed by private companies.
A regulation ordinance for betting houses and gaming rooms that was approved by the Municipality of Colmenar Viejo, in Madrid, is subjected to public consultation for a period of 30 days. The regulation has been published in the latest Official Bulletin of the Community of Madrid (BOCM) in October.
