El Salvador.- The Ibero-American Corporation of State Lotteries and Betting (Cibelae), along with the National Lottery of Charity of El Salvador (LNB), celebrated the successful conclusion of the CIBELAE El Salvador 2024 Workshops.
The event, which occurred from September 30 to October 2 at the Sheraton Presidente San Salvador Hotel, gathered more than 100 gambling industry experts from across Ibero-America, exceeding initial expectations.
The workshops, focused on “Money Laundering Prevention and Innovation” in the gaming industry, provided a space for debate and analysis on the challenges and opportunities presented by the current regulated gaming landscape. Over three days, participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas, as well as to learn about the latest trends in technological innovation and best practices for preventing money laundering in the sector.
According to Cibelae, one of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the new three-tier certification framework for money laundering prevention by the corporation. This initiative aims to strengthen the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing in the region. During the workshops, information was provided about registration for Level 1 of the certification.
Javier Milián, president of the LNB and current president of Cibelae, highlighted at the opening of the event the importance of the Workshops to position El Salvador as a regional reference in the gaming industry. “The CIBELAE Workshops in San Salvador are an excellent opportunity to strengthen our networks, discuss topics of common interest, and above all, seek together innovative solutions for the challenges we will face,” he declared.
The workshops featured the participation of prominent international leaders and experts from the sector, including:

PNP spokesperson Jean Fajardo says the cash remains “intact”.
The Philippines.- The Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Jean Fajardo has said that PHP300m (US$5.1m) in cash seized during raids carried out against offshore gaming operators in Las Piñas City and Pampanga remains secure. Reports had claimed that the money was missing.
“There is no truth to the malicious reports that the money is missing. These are considered fruits of crime so the case is pending and the PNP would comply with a competent court as to the proper disposal of these seized evidence,” Fajardo said.
“If the court would say that these should be turned over to the Department of Justice, the PNP is more than willing to turn over these. If the court would issue orders to return the money, then the PNP will comply,” Fajardo told reporters when sought for a comment.
Fajardo suggested false information was intended to create confusion about the raid in Malate, Manila, last month. “The money is intact. It just so happened there are efforts to muddle the issue of our legitimate operation against Vertex Technologies,” she added.
