The National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) has ruled this.
Peru.- In order to regulate and supervise the online industry in Peru, starting from the first quarter of 2025, online betting houses and those specializing in e-sports like Dota 2, will pay taxes.
Víctor Mejía, head of the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat), stated that the goal is to integrate all betting users into the scope of supervision, thus allowing online betting activities to contribute to the country's resources.
As part of the "Economy for Everyone" program, Mejía also explained that five companies operating under 12 online sports betting platforms in the country were identified as not paying taxes. "Because there was no regulatory framework that included them. That regulatory framework is now in place. Additionally, there are about 50 companies that engage in sports activities and in the world, we have more than 500, which could enter Peru at any time."

In the case of e-sports, Mejía explained: "Yes, eSports are also included, as they are considered sports. Also, it is an example of how technology changes our reality day by day," he added.
Through this measure, by 2025, it is expected to collect approximately S$70m (USD 18,918,918). He also highlighted that this figure could increase, as it does not include foreign online betting platforms.
