Through the Change.org platform, hundreds of signatures were gathered and a letter was sent to the club in Buenos Aires City.
Argentina.- Fans of Club Atlético River Plate used the Change.org platform to collect almost 15,000 signatures to ask the club to prevent betting houses from continuing to sponsor the team. Currently, Codere is the main sponsor of the "millionaire" team.
As a precedent, the club Vélez Sarsfield was the first to make this kind of decision. Until June 30, the football club Vélez Sarsfield was sponsored by bplay, the sports betting house. However, by a decision of the club, they did not renew their contract and determined that the next sponsor will not be a betting house again.

In the letter to the club's management, it was also stated that "these practices not only promote irresponsible gambling and addiction to chance, but also negatively impact the financial and emotional stability of people, especially the young and vulnerable."
And they added: "River is an institution where more than 1,000 students study, from elementary to tertiary level, and where about another 100 young people live in the boarding house and 11,000 members practice sports, in addition to the many millions of fans who go to the Monumental every Sunday or watch the games on TV."
