Mississippi bettors wagered $48.6 million on sports in October, data from the Mississippi Gaming Commission showed, down 1.9 percent from $49.5 million in October 2023.
Hold dropped to 5.9 percent from 14.8 percent last October, and it was the second consecutive monthly revenue decline, after a drop in September. Revenue came to $2.9 million, down 61 percent from $7.3 million in October 2023.
Parlay and football bets contributed most to the revenue total, collecting close to $1 million each.
Sportsbooks in all three regions of Mississippi reported a drop in hold and revenue compared to October 2023. Northern venues saw the largest revenue difference of 75 percent. Central Mississippi faced a 73.2 percent drop in revenue, while coastal venues collected 52.8 percent less year-on-year.
The MGC also reported that the state’s land-based casinos collected $193.4 million in revenue last month, bringing year-to-date revenue above $2 billion. Casino revenue was up 1.5 percent from September and 1.2 percent compared with last October when casinos generated $191.1 million.
