Recently, the platform announced its public launch with USD 6 million in seed funding led by 6MV, with participation from Will Ventures, Bullpen Capital, Karatage, Advancit Capital, and several angel investors. By Damian Martinez, journalist at G&M News.
With over two decades in online gaming and entertainment, how have your experiences shaped the vision and development of the company?
I think the most important thing is to frequently talk to users and spend a lot of time looking at what they do. So right now, one of the most interesting areas is streaming. Real money streaming only took off these last few years and it’s an incredibly social experience, but the games themselves haven’t changed. That’s something that we want to address at BetHog.
What challenges did you anticipate in creating a platform that merges traditional gaming elements with cryptocurrency, and how did you address them?
The area that is most challenging is in bringing new titles to the market. It is always difficult to know what games people will like. The only way to find out is to build versions of them and test them internally to see if they are fun.
What drove the decision to build the site on Solana, and how does SOL enhance the player-versus-player gaming experience?
Solana is fast and inexpensive, with incredible consumer adoption. We are seeing meme coins absolutely take off on Solana. There is now a big cohort of consumers on Solana that love trading meme coins looking for 1,000x returns. Additionally, they love games where their skill can give them an edge. That makes them perfect for player versus player (PvP) games.
The company just raised USD 6 million in seed funding. How will these funds specifically be allocated to support the platform’s growth?
Some of the funds will go towards marketing, but the bulk will go into developing our own titles. We have a long list of games that we have conceptualized and want to bring to the market.
What are your short- and long-term goals for BetHog? Are there plans to expand the platform beyond the current offerings, perhaps into live events, Esports, or other entertainment segments?
Our focus right now is on streaming. We want to become the go-to site for streamers because our games offer a whole new way for them to engage with their audience.
