The Betsson Group and its subsidiary BML Group have once again been placed on the payment block list by the National Police Board.
This decision was made because the subsidiary of Betsson AB, BML Group Ltd, has been promoting gambling services on websites in mainland Finland, either directly or indirectly, and the payment ban will take effect.
On April 7, 2023, the NPB prohibited BML Group Ltd. from marketing its gambling services in Finland and imposed a conditional fine of 2.4 million euros to reinforce the ban.
The NPB stated that the company targeted mainland Finland as an advertising destination through various channels over a long period.
The company and its subsidiaries had multiple opportunities to submit statements regarding their views and to modify their activities to align with the views of the NPB.
During the hearing process, the company introduced some changes related to the marketing channels it used, but marketing targeting mainland Finland continued.
The police estimate that BML Group Ltd has a significant economic interest in continuing these activities and found that these illegal activities have persisted for a long time, regardless of the control measures previously taken by the NPB.
