With the lottery funds, the Forensic Laboratory for Fighting Financial Crimes will be created for the Scientific Police.
Brazil.- The Government of the State of Paraná has authorized an investment of R$10m (USD1.6m) for the construction of a Forensic Laboratory to Combat Financial Crimes, intended for the Scientific Police. The funds come from activities regulated by Loterias do Estado do Paraná (Lottopar).
The Integrated Center for Data Processing and Analysis (CIPAD), which will be located at the agency's headquarters in Curitiba, will be used to detect money laundering practices, asset concealment, illegal financial operations, and other related crimes. This laboratory will further strengthen the fight against corruption of individuals and legal entities.
The president of Lottopar, Daniel Romanowski, highlighted: “Lottopar was born with the purpose of supervising and regulating lottery operations, providing safe entertainment to the people of Paraná, but above all with a social return. This is the first resource allocated to the Government of Paraná to reinforce public security actions, especially for the State's Scientific Police.”
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Public Security, Hudson Leóncio Teixeira, pointed out that the investment seeks to reinforce the activities developed by the Civil and Scientific Police. “This allocation of resources is specifically aimed at creating the Integrated Center for Data Processing and Analysis, which aims to support the Judicial Police in combating money laundering and organized crime,” he stated.
