Representatives of the Recreational Machine Associations of the Basque Country, AMRA, AGUIMAR, the Association of Gaming Halls of Euskadi (ASE), and members of the Basque government participated in the meeting.
Spain.- The Recreational Machine Associations of the Basque Country, AMRA, AGUIMAR and the Association of Gaming Halls of Euskadi (ASE), held a meeting in the town of Zerain, in the province of Guipúzcoa. Board members of the three associations strengthened ties during their traditional Christmas meeting.
The Director of Gaming of the Basque Government, Aitor Uriarte, and the head of systems and management, Fernando Rojo, participated in the year-end meeting along with representatives of the associations. The meeting included visits to the Aizpea mines and the Larraondo Sawmill, culminating with a meal at the Ostatu de Zerain.
According to AGUIMAR, "the annual meeting not only strengthens the ties between the associations of the sector, but also serves as a demonstration of the commitment to collaboration and dialogue with the Basque Government in favor of the Recreational Machine Sector in Euskadi."
Meanwhile, a report presented by the Basque Gaming Observatory (OVJ) shows a reduction in the number of betting shops and gaming halls authorized in the Basque Country. The study records a decrease in authorizations from the year 2018 to 2023.

According to the OVJ in its study on gaming indicators, in 2018 there were 35 gaming halls authorized as betting shops while in 2023 there were 21. Additionally, in 2018 there were 33 betting shops themselves while in 2023 the figure was 27. The gaming halls remained constant, with 209 establishments, one less than six years ago.

On the other hand, the Basque Gaming Observatory published this year a report detailing the trends and changes in the gaming sector in the Basque Country from 2019 to 2023. The study analyzed the volume of private management sports betting, the amounts played in the ONCE and the inspections carried out.
