Online casino and sports betting in Spain chiefly influenced a 14.4 per cent year-on-year rise in gross gaming revenue in Q3.
Igaming revenue across the country grew 17.3 per cent in the third quarter to €187.99m – 54 per cent of the €348.09m total reported by the regulator, the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ).
Sports betting revenue grew 19.8 per cent year-on-year to €135.9m, accounting for 39.1 per cent of the total.
Quarter-on-quarter, though, betting revenue dropped 6.6 per cent and the uplift in online casino revenue was less than the year-on-year growth, at 9.5 per cent.
As a result – and considering the 19.7 per cent drop in poker revenue and the 1.7 per cent jump in bingo revenue - total online gaming revenue in Q3 was stable quarter-on-quarter, growing 0.5 per cent from Q2.
The DGOJ said there was a 24.3 per cent drop in pre-match betting and a 22 per cent drop in horserace betting in Q3 compared to Q2, partially offset by an 8.7 per cent rise in in-play bets.
In online casino, live roulette revenue climbed 4.7 per cent year-on-year, slots revenue rose 25.8 per cent and blackjack revenue climbed 43.4 per cent.
