The tourist establishment, one of the first to offer gambling after years of prohibition in the country, celebrates its anniversary.
Venezuela.- Inter Maracaibo Hotel & Casino, the city's 5-star hotel, celebrated its 14th anniversary establishing itself as a benchmark brand in national and international hospitality, committed to the development of the Zulian region and all of Venezuela.
The hotel complex was built in the 1980s to be used by the Holiday Inn chain, not completing its structure and remaining abandoned until 1998 when it was acquired by businessmen Giuseppe De Pinto Verni and Lucianno Verísimo to turn it into the most important hotel complex in the region since its inauguration in 2010, for all those visiting the city of Maracaibo for business or pleasure maintaining quality standards in care and service with all the innovations of the most advanced hospitality.
In early September 2021, President Nicolás Maduro gave the green light to the full opening of gambling in Venezuela, with the return to activity of 30 casinos. This decision came amid criticism, after former President Hugo Chavez had implemented strict regulation on casinos and gaming rooms a decade earlier.
Thus, after the official authorization, the tourist complex added gambling to its offer, just like the other 30 rooms that opened at that time. In fact, Inter Maracaibo was the first to open its doors after the official decision change.
Today, the complex is preparing to celebrate its 14 years. As pointed out by its president, Giuseppe de Pinto Verni: "The excellence in the service we provide, which stems from the commitment of each of our workers and the management team who have been accomplices in our most important projects and have always accompanied us in constant processes of reinvention, is surely our main letter of introduction to continue providing our guests and visitors with a 5-star service."
The president of the hotel and casino then added: "We will always be committed to the sustainable development of the region and the country through three axes that we seek to fulfill: economic, environmental, and social, to continue maintaining the 5 stars that characterize us."
Claudia Sheinbaum dismissed the statements of Ricardo Monreal about the drafting of a new regulation, although she announced that her government would approach the sector to work on crime prevention.
Mexico.- The Federal Government does not have a new law to regulate casinos on the agenda, assured President Claudia Sheinbaum, who pointed out that the head of the Ministry of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, has the task of approaching the owners of these establishments to prevent acts of corruption, but that does not imply the drafting of a new law, something that, she insisted, is not among the intentions of her government.
In a press conference, the new Mexican president denied that a new Law of Games and Draws was being prepared, as stated by the coordinator of Morena in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal Ávila, who assured that the president would send said project to end extortions and contribute to improving tax collection.
"She (Sheinbaum) stated that, in the coming days or weeks, the Executive Power would be sending an initiative for a new law of games and draws, since it has not been modified since 1946", Monreal Ávila had said, generating expectation for the changes this could mean for the gambling industry in Mexico, although the president already discredited this version.
"No, at this moment there is no new law; what there is, is that Rosa Icela, is talking to those who own the casinos so that, if there is corruption, it is reported immediately to avoid these schemes that could still be in some servers that remained from the past era, prior to the arrival of President López Obrador", said Sheinbaum in a conference, quashing rumors about a new regulation. Even, the president clarified that although the current law related to these establishments is already old, there is still no proposal to modify it.

It is worth noting that at the end of 2018, in the last days of the administration of former President Enrique Peña Nieto, a 15-year extension was granted to the Mexican Hippodrome Administrator, which extended the permit for the operation of more than fifty casinos until 2033.
