Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte recently revealed that her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, has expressed his willingness to cover the costs of hiring several lawyers to assist her in dealing with potential impeachment proceedings.
During a press conference, Sara stated that since last year, she has met with several defense lawyers and has prepared legally for a potential impeachment case.
"We have compiled a list of potential cases and assigned a dedicated lawyer to each case to ensure that each one receives full attention," she said.
She further disclosed that former President Duterte proactively offered to fund the legal fees to support her in facing legal challenges. However, Sara conveyed through her brother that she hopes her father would not send more money. "We are prepared for the impeachment case and do not need additional financial support," she added.
The Vice President's legal preparations began last year when Arlene Brosas, a representative of the Makabayan Bloc, publicly expressed support for her impeachment. Sara started preparations early to ensure that each potential case is fully defended.
This news not only reflects the close relationship within the Duterte family but also triggers further attention from the public regarding the legal challenges the Vice President might face and their political implications.
