On Tuesday (17), Google announced its new policy for advertising sports betting and online gaming in Brazil. The tech giant has determined that only bets licensed by the government can advertise on the platform. The goal is to ensure that only companies genuinely committed to the rules and authorized by the SPA can advertise.
“From January 1, 2025, all advertisers offering online sports betting and fixed-odds games in Brazil must provide a valid license from the Ministry of Finance (MF) to maintain their certification for online gambling.”
“If you were previously approved based on a pending license, you now need to submit your final license. If you do not have a valid license from the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, you must stop your ads with us from January 1, 2025, and your certification will be revoked in January.”
Google's new policy dictates that in addition to having an operating license issued by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance, bets must register on the platform to obtain a valid Google certification to continue advertising.
The measure is in line with the SPA's determinations on advertising, ensuring that only government-authorized companies can continue advertising campaigns from January 1.
