The Parliament of Moldova voted to lift certain restrictions on gambling advertisements in the country.
The bill was proposed by Radu Marian and Dorian Istratii, who noted that most European countries allow gambling advertisements.
Advertisements and audiovisual programs sponsored by legal entities organizing and conducting low social risk gambling can be aired between 10 PM and 7 AM.
Any advertisement must mention the negative effects of gambling in some way, and this content must constitute at least 20% of the advertisement time or 20% of the advertisement space.
Meanwhile, institutions selling games such as lotteries can display advertisements for these games, but the size of the advertisements must not exceed A4 paper.
It is noteworthy that since January 1, 2022, Moldova has completely banned gambling advertisements.
For advertisements of low social risk gambling published in public or private journals, the space must not exceed 15% of the journal's space per issue.
It was also mentioned that resources allocated to lottery and sports betting advertisements will be used to support sports and social activities in Moldova and help create local media content.
This week's related news is that the UK Parliament has withdrawn the amendment to the "Football Governance Act" proposed by Lord Foster of Bath, which required football clubs to consult fans on gambling advertisements and sponsorships.
