Betting sites in the country had more visits than adult content sites in October 2024, according to a new survey by Aposta Legal Brasil, which monitors bets in the country. According to the study, the combined traffic of the two main adult video content portals is 28% less compared to the number of visits to iGaming sites.

The betting market in Brazil reached new heights in 2024, and Aposta Legal gathered the main numbers and trends of the betting market in a comprehensive survey, released in eBook format this Thursday (26).

The first edition of the study "Balance of Bets in Brazil" highlights data and reveals insights about the behavior of Brazilian bettors, who totaled more than 6.6 billion visits to betting house sites in the country.

The numbers of visits were obtained based on a detailed analysis of the relationship of Brazilian bettors with more than 100 of the main betting site domains in operation in the country. The survey used specialized tools to monitor the traffic of bets in Brazil.

Last October, betting houses in Brazil recorded 970 million accesses. This number was 14% higher than the volume of visits to the Globo.com portal, 28% higher than the combined traffic of the two main adult video content sites in the country and five times greater than the accesses to Wikipedia and Chat GPT in the same period.

According to the survey, between January and November of last year, betting sites monitored by Aposta Legal Brasil surpassed the mark of 6.6 billion visits in Brazil, of which   99% — 6.61 billion accesses — were registered in legalized betting house sites. However, non-legalized betting house sites accounted for 74.1 million visits.

"The 15 most visited betting sites in Brazil concentrate 80% of the total visits throughout the year, accumulating 5.33 billion accesses. All these brands operate in compliance with the regulations established by the Ministry of Finance", says the study.

The study also brings insights about the behavior of Brazilian bettors. According to the balance, six out of ten bettors make bets at least once a week while eight out of ten bet monthly. The monthly expenditure is less than R$50.

According to the overview, football leads the ranking of sports for betting, chosen by 7 out of 10 bettors. The modality is followed by bets on eSports and basketball. The study interviewed, between April 5 and 25, 2024, 2010 people. The margin of error is 2.2 percentage points.
