The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia held the 2025 Yi Si Year of the Snake Spring Festival reception in Phnom Penh. Diverse groups from Cambodia, including overseas Chinese, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises, dispatched teachers, volunteers, experts assisting Cambodia, and international students, participated in this Spring Festival celebration, which was the first since the successful application for heritage status.
In his speech, Wang Wenbin, the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, reviewed the highlights of China-Cambodia relations in 2024. He noted that 2024 was a pivotal year for bilateral relations, with significant visits by leaders such as King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia and Prince Hun Sen, which deepened strategic cooperation and provided important guidance for the development of bilateral relations.
China and Cambodia have made significant progress in cooperation across various fields, especially in investment, trade, cultural exchanges, and tourism.
Wang Wenbin stated that last year, China's investment and bilateral trade with Cambodia reached new heights, with steady progress in the construction of the "Industrial Development Corridor" and the "Rice and Fish Corridor." The "China-Cambodia Cultural Exchange Year" was successfully held, and Cambodian coconuts officially obtained permission to be exported to China.
He also mentioned that the number of Chinese tourists visiting Cambodia has significantly increased, marking a new era for the community of shared future between the two countries, moving towards higher quality and higher levels.
Wang Wenbin emphasized that the overseas Chinese in Cambodia are an important bridge and bond in China-Cambodia relations, and the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia will continue to provide support and protection for Chinese citizens, enterprises, and institutions in Cambodia.
He also stated that in 2025, cooperation with Cambodia in combating cross-border online gambling and telecommunications fraud will be further strengthened to ensure a safer and better working, studying, and living environment for compatriots in Cambodia.
The reception also featured exciting lion dances, traditional song and dance performances, and interactive activities rich in Chinese traditional characteristics such as calligraphy, paper cutting, New Year painting printing, and tea art.
The event also showcased the "China-Cambodia Frame Together—Beautiful China·Beautiful Cambodia" photo exhibition, displaying important moments of friendly exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.
