Burmese media reported that the Burmese military government issued a statement accusing Thailand of providing electricity to scam gangs on the Myanmar border, calling this act an "aid" to cybercrime.

According to the report, the statement revealed that cyber scams have become rampant with the support of Thailand, and the involved scam activities have seriously affected the security and stability of Myanmar and the surrounding areas.

The Burmese military government pointed out that Thailand has provided the necessary electricity and internet connections to the scam gangs on the Myanmar border, enabling these transnational criminal gangs to carry out scam activities online.

Although the statement did not directly name names, according to background analysis, the neighboring country referred to by the Burmese military government is obviously Thailand. The Burmese military government emphasized that cross-border scam activities are mainly carried out by foreigners from neighboring countries, calling for strengthened international cooperation in combating online fraud.

The Burmese government revealed that it has arrested 55,711 foreign suspects, most of whom are Chinese nationals, suspected of participating in cyber scam crimes.

The Burmese military government stated that although these suspects have been repatriated to their home countries, due to domestic turmoil and the involvement of ethnic armed organizations (EAO), the government is unable to control cybercrime in all areas.

The Burmese military government also stated that although Myanmar has signed a nationwide ceasefire agreement, ethnic armed organizations including the Karen National Union (KNU), the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), and the New Mon State Party are still involved in scam activities.

The National Unity Government of Myanmar (NUG), the Karen National Union (KNU), and the Federal Democratic Forces (FDF) jointly issued a statement accusing the Burmese military government and its supporting armed forces and cartels of providing protection for scam gangs.

They emphasized that Myanmar should not become a hotbed for global cyber scams and called for cooperation among neighboring countries such as China, India, Bangladesh, Laos, and Thailand to combat cross-border scam crimes.

Thailand's Mawlamyine is considered an important international economic zone, but it has recently become a hotbed for cybercrime. Among the operators of scam activities, Chinese nationals hold significant positions.

A recent news story that garnered widespread attention: Chinese actor Sing Sing was lured to Thailand and was deceived into participating in scam activities. This incident led many Chinese tourists to cancel their planned trips to Thailand, reflecting the impact of scam activities in Thailand on the international tourism industry.

The statement from the Burmese military government clearly stated the need for neighboring countries to strengthen cooperation to jointly address cross-border scams and cybercrime issues. Thailand, as a neighbor of Myanmar, its relationship with scam gangs has attracted international attention.

The Burmese military government called for strengthened intelligence sharing and joint actions to combat this rampant cross-border criminal activity, to prevent these scam gangs from continuing to wreak havoc in the border areas.
