The gambling supplier Goodwin NV, based in Curaçao, has been officially banned from operating in the Swedish market by the Swedish gambling regulatory authority, Spelinspektionen.

The company was ordered to cease operations due to suspected unlicensed activities. In fact, during a test phase, it was discovered that Swedish customers could open accounts, leading to Goodwin NV violating Swedish gambling laws, thus concluding the investigation.

Interestingly, earlier this month, Versus Odds BV, also based in Curaçao, was banned from entering the Swedish market for operating without a valid license, following closely behind.

Regarding the ban on Goodwin NV, the operator has the right to appeal. However, the ban takes immediate effect, and if Goodwin NV fails to exit the Swedish market, it may face additional financial penalties.

After officially joining the Macolin Convention to combat match-fixing in sports last month, the Swedish Online Gambling Industry Trade Association (BOS) also launched two new initiatives to strengthen efforts against money laundering in the gambling industry.

It is noteworthy that several gambling companies based in Curaçao, including Galaktika NV, Small House BV, and Cosmogames NV, will also exit the Swedish market in 2024.

At the end of last year, the Swedish Gambling Authority received the budget framework for 2025, emphasizing that enhancing supervision over unlicensed gambling and match-fixing will be one of the top priorities for the coming year.

Recently, after some local journalists claimed there were issues with the Spelpaus self-exclusion system, the authority issued a statement refuting the allegations of data leakage.
