The Bureau of Immigration (BI) of the Philippines recently reported that in the past five days, a total of 57 foreign nationals were deported, including 46 Chinese citizens. This action is the latest measure by the Philippine government to strengthen law enforcement and rectify illegal immigration.
Joel Anthony Viado, the Director of the Immigration Bureau, stated in a declaration that these foreign nationals had departed from Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on various flights.
The deportation is one of the recent series of law enforcement actions against foreign nationals who illegally stay and engage in illegal activities.
It is understood that in January of this year alone, the Philippine government arrested 450 foreigners involved in illegal activities, most of whom were associated with illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO).
In recent years, the Philippine government has intensified its crackdown on illegal POGO because these underground gambling activities often involve human trafficking, online fraud, money laundering, and other criminal acts, severely affecting public security and national safety.
The Immigration Bureau emphasized that the Philippine government will continue to take strict measures to further investigate illegal foreign nationals, while strengthening entry inspections and work visa supervision to prevent the spread of illegal activities.
In the future, the Philippine government will also enhance inter-agency cooperation to ensure effective crackdown on illegal POGO and other foreign-related crimes, maintaining national and social order.
